Chamber Choir performs at Mt. Sac
Chamber Choir performed in the 23rd Annual High School Chamber Choir Festival Wednesday, March 15 at Mount San Antonio College.
The performers showcased “Every Time I Feel the Spirit,” “Esto Les Digo” and “Daemon Irrepit Callidus,” all of which they sang at their previous winter concert.
“We were the first choir to perform, so we had time right before [the performance] to warm up and no down-time. [That got us] in that singing mode for the performance,” senior Stephanie Gutierrez said. “Although we didn’t have a much of a stage presence or as much volume as some of the advanced choirs, it was still an awesome learning experience.”
The six choirs at the festival received feedback from judges about their strengths and possible areas of improvement.
“I actually felt that we did extremely well. Despite not practicing recently, we still pulled through and managed to produce amazing sound, especially mixed with the [Mount San Antonio College] music hall,” junior Mingson Lo said. “We even had some other schools come up to us and talk about how well we did.”
After performing, Chamber Choir members watched other schools’ choirs sing onstage.
“My favorite part was being able to hear all the other choirs’ techniques and being able to gain something positive from each group so that our own group at Walnut High School can continue to grow and learn from these other chamber choirs,” senior Alisha Chen said.
