Welcoming the Walnut High School Band, cheerleader sophomore Natasha Vo cheers to the tune of the fight song. “We always feel happy and energetic when we perform, but also a bit nervous because everyone is watching us,” Vo said.
Playing a high note, flutist freshman Tiffany Chow performs a series of pep tunes including “Feel It Still” by Portugal. The Man and “Happy" by Pharrell Williams. “We’re always very excited and hyped up to play for such a big crowd,” Chow said.
Dance team junior Denise Kao (second from left) begins to dance in the most emotional part of “Closure” by Hayley Warner. “The song is talking about when something isn't going right and you really want to fix it, but the best thing to do is just take a step back and just let it be the way it is,” Kao said.
Dance team junior Emma Yan changes formation in the dance to “Closure” by Hayley Warner. “The song is a really sad song, and it talks about going through a heartbreak. I was trying to tap into the emotion and trying to match it to my dance,” Yan said.
