Color guard and marching band debut their field show
Marching band and color guard debuted their new field show at the football game Friday, Sept. 7
Band and color guard performed their field show, “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” which consisted of songs from the movie soundtrack such as “This is Halloween” and “Sally’s Song.”
“Friday’s performance was pretty energetic. The crowd seemed really into it, and we were really proud to show all the hard work that we’ve been putting in for the past practices,” marimbist band member junior Jophiel Oliver said. “The show is a fun show to play, [and] it’s something everyone can kind of relate to, like everyone knows ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas,’ all the tunes.”
Along with their field show, band wore their brand new uniforms.
“It was really cool to show off our hard work from the summer and to show off our new uniforms,” flutist band member sophomore Isabel Caluya said. “I feel lucky that we get to be the first people to perform in them and happy that our band has a new, shinier look.”
Color guard performed their show with choreography that resembled the movie, “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” including senior Tony Voss portraying the character of Jack Skellington, while color guard members pretended that he was invisible as he tried to open the doors.
“It was kind of nerve-racking because it’s my last first show. I’m excited to see how much we can expand this show this year,” flag and saber color guard senior Grace Handjojo said. “There’s a lot of room for improvement. We still have a long way to go this season.”
