Dance will open fall pep rally

Dance will open the fall pep rally on Friday Oct. 24 with a jazz-inspired dance. Incorporating the “Great Gatsby” theme, the team choreographed their performance to the song “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” by Fergie, Q-Tip and GoonRock.

“[The dance] is really fun and really upbeat. All the movements are really cute and you can tell we’re having a lot of fun doing it based on our facials,” sophomore Colby Wong said. “Everyone really enjoys it.”

This year’s dance will consist of a larger dance group, featuring a total of 24 girls.

“More people [dancing] is usually the better because it shows how much we can work as a team,” Wong said. “Because there are more of us, our feelings really get to the audience. [Everyone] can tell we’re really happy.”

To prepare for this performance and to perfect the dance, the dancers practice during class daily and stay after school every Thursday.

“We know that all our hard work will show during the performance,” junior Crystal Tran said. “It’s a lot of the girls’ first time for performing in the pep rally, and there’s no doubt in my mind that we’re all excited and nervous to show everyone what we have in store this year.”
