Marching band hosts March-a-thon
Marching band hosted March-a-thon field show rehearsal and fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the football stadium.
This fundraiser not only helped band members raise funds for their future concerts and equipment but also increased practice hours to refine their skills in parade marching.
“[We worked on] balance, articulation, memorizing drills and music [and] foot timing. It was really hot, but I had fun,” trumpeter sophomore Brandon Wong said. “Every time we run the show it’s really exhilarating, fun and gratifying, and it looks good.”
Band members practiced their theme “Shadows and Light” and prepared for their next field show that will take place during the football game against Covina on Friday, Sept. 22 at home.
“Everyone is getting lights to use in our next show and our second movement will be finished so that’s pretty cool,” oboist junior Amber Shamaan said. “I honestly feel like the band improved so much this year and I believe that this year we can actually win the final.”
