Preview: Chamber Choir to perform at Vanguard University
Chamber Singers will be performing at its first off-campus festival on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Vanguard University.
The choir has been rehearsing by first learning the notes of the musical pieces and then transitioning into memorizing the lyrics. During the days prior to the festival, the singers focused on perfecting the tone and phrasing of each song.
“I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to see live performances from other schools’ choirs. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the groups perform and the different methods that they use,” senior Star Kang said. “I think it’s a good learning experience to hear other choirs with their different vowel shapes and the mood that they set for their songs.”
Chamber Singers will be performing both religious and classical pieces including “Laudate Dominum,” “Ain’-a That Good News” and “Sing Me to Heaven.”
“Not only am I excited to perform for a larger audience with my new choir, but I [also] hope to hear more advanced music coming from the other mixed choirs,” junior Lauren Lim said. “We always look for several factors, and since these groups are [of] higher difficulty, we can aspire and match the same vocal quality.”
