Rhapsody to compete at Temecula Valley
Rhapsody in Blue will participate in its second competition of the year Saturday, Feb. 25 at Temecula Valley High School.
Performance numbers will include “Be My Baby” by the Ronettes, “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes and “I am Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera. To prepare, members have been rehearsing rhythms and dances since December, and as the competition approaches, they look to become truly comfortable performing on stage.
“We make sure we rehearse the number a few times so that we’re confident with [our] choreo and singing,” sophomore Crystal Garibay said. “Once we’re on stage, it’s pretty nerve racking because all of our competition is watching us. We want [our competition] to look at us as professionals, so we don’t want to mess up.”
Rhapsody placed second in this competition last year and hopes to place again this year. In addition to competing, members look forward to enjoying the experience.
“On competition day I’m always nervous and excited. I’m nervous because the stage is always a little different and that something will go wrong. I’m excited because I’ll get to meet new people from other schools,” senior Jordan Correa said. “I’ve been in choir for four years and this is my second to last competition. I feel lucky to perform with the girls that I’ve gotten so close to.”
