Treble Choir and Rhapsody in Blue sing at Troy Festival

Rhapsody in Blue and Treble Choir performed their first festival of the school year Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Fullerton College in the Plummer Auditorium.

Choirs from seven different schools participated in the event. Rhapsody members sang “Pin Pin de Sarapin” by Jude Roldan, “Jubilate Deo” by John Leavitt and “Will the Circle be Unbroken” by J. David Moore. Treble Choir performed “Benedictus” by Brian Lewis, “Bhombela” by Will Skaff and “El Cielo Canta Alegria” by Roger Bergs.

“It was exciting because we were the second to last group to go, so we got to see everyone’s reaction and having fun, clapping along,” Rhapsody in Blue junior Lillian Bernal said. “Treble Choir was supporting Rhapsody and Rhapsody was supporting Treble, making the dynamic much better.”

After the event, a judge rated the choir based on its dynamics, volume and knowledge of the piece. Choir director Lisa Lopez was later given the score sheet, which the singers will review and use to make improvements to their performance.

“During the rehearsal before the event, we were really stressed, but we did better when we went on stage than we rehearsed, “ Rhapsody in Blue junior Eliana Lu said. “We were really nervous of our performance but when we performed the event we did much better than we expected.”
