Annual College Fair

College Fair will be hosted in the gym from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21 where over 40 different colleges will be represented for students to learn about each college’s admission process.

“I think it gives people an opportunity to try and have that human perspective. Sometimes when [you’re] speaking with people, you get some insights that you might not be able to get from the digital media. So, I think bringing the colleges here on campus [makes] the colleges seem more realistic for them and [can] maybe answer some of the questions that you wouldn’t have from visiting their website.” Grade Level Coordinator Dujuan Johnson said.

This year, students and teachers who wear college gear on Monday will be entered into a raffle for college-themed prizes.

“On our campus, there are students who are already excited about going to college, but there are a few that are kind of on the fence. [We want students] to be able to celebrate going to college and bring the whole “ra ra” spirit here on campus.” Johnson said. “I hope that [the raffle] will encourage them to apply. With our school being, in essence, what I consider a mini college campus, I think it kind of just reinforces our philosophies here at Walnut.”
