AP Art History finishes soap carving project
Advanced Placement (AP) Art History students participated in a soap carving project from Monday, Aug. 19 to Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Creating designs in unscented soaps with basic tools, AP Art History had the opportunity to emulate artists’ sculptures of each student’s choice from thousands of years ago. They used carving tools to sculpt the soap bars, etching supplies to create small details and sponges and brushes to make finishing touches.
“It was fun, and it was a good thing to spend time doing,” senior Imran Haq said. “We learned about how difficult it was to do the carvings, since we only had one week to do to make a replica of [old sculptures].”
