ASB Club Competitions
Associated Student Body (ASB) is offering a $250 prize to the winner of the ASB hosted club competitions at the stage in front of the snacketeria from Oct. 27-31. A maximum of 20 clubs will be allowed in the competition.
The short games that will be played throughout the week include a card in a hat game, apple stacking game, ping-pong game, knee penny game and balloon pop game. The three clubs with the fastest times will be rewarded with either five, three, or one point at the end of each day. Five finalists will be selected at the end of the week to participate in the final, which will take place during the halftime of the basketball scrimmage the following week.
“I think that it’s going to be fun and there is a prize, so I think that they will somewhat take it seriously. The school will enjoy it, and hopefully, the clubs will have a good time competing,” ASB member junior Daniel Gomez said.
ASB has bought supplies such as paddle ball racquets, ping-pong balls, cards and baskets in preparation for this event.
“We’ve been discussing this for a long time in ASB, so we’ve been preparing for this for a while. Hopefully it comes out pretty good,” Gomez said.
The competition is an opportunity for clubs to interact with each other. It will also enable the club members to form stronger bonds.
“We thought this would be a great way to bring together different groups of people at Walnut. Usually, the activities we have revolve around sports and so this club competition bring together and helps the clubs feel part of Walnut High School,” ASB member senior Pauline Mendoza said.
