ASB hosts Branding Iron Spirit Week
Associated Student Body (ASB) hosted its annual Branding Iron Spirit Week from Monday, Aug. 19 to Friday, Aug. 23.
Mustangs wore football gear and sports jerseys for Madden Monday, Hawaiian and beach-themed attire for Tropic Like It’s Hot Tuesday, pajamas for Wake Me Up Wednesday, matching clothes with two other students for 3Peat Thursday and school spirit shirts for Fear The Stangs Friday. Representatives from each class competed in musical chairs, bucket brigade, three legged race, knock it til it drops (a game in which a partner would guide a blindfolded participant to knock over a line of water bottles with a foam football) and pied the brahma, respectively.
In addition, ASB Secretary and commissioner of dances and rallies junior Samantha Kozlo and ASB President and commissioner of pride and spirit senior Matthew Mayo designed limited spirit shirts with the chant “Ain’t No Party Like A Mustang Party.” Shirts were sold for $10 for the students attending the white out Branding Iron football game during lunch Thursday, Aug. 22 and Friday, Aug. 23.
“We needed to include the shirt this year because we wear white shirts that aren’t very prideful, so we thought of incorporating our spirit in our shirts,” Kozlo said. “Football players can look at the stands with people wearing the shirts, so that encourages them. It shows unity, not separation, and creates a sort of family; that’s how we started at ASB, so it involves the whole school. We wanted something to give us more spirit and have a positive message.”
