ASB hosts fall varsity sports faceoff

Associated Student Body (ASB) is hosting a competition between all fall varsity sports from Tuesday, Oct. 2. to Thursday, Oct. 4 during lunch.

Girls tennis, volleyball, boys water polo, football, boys and girls cross country and girls golf each sent representatives to participate in a series of games, including “The 5 Second Rule” and musical chairs.

“We noticed [that] a lot of the time we only do lunchtime activities when we have pep rallies, and we wanted to be more active,” activities coordinator junior Matthew Mayo said. “[ASB] did something similar [to this] 10 years ago. I was reading about it, and I thought, ‘Why not bring it back?’”

The activities were not only intended to provide funds for the sports, but also to create school spirit during lunch. The participants earned points toward a total of $250 for their sport.

“[My team was] cheering me on because we were all coming together to win the money,” sophomore Lily Rzonca said. “We [were] a family and acted as a team.”
