Best Buddies attend walk for Down syndrome
Best Buddies attended the annual Ups and Downs Walk Sunday, Oct. 23 at Guasti Regional Park in Rancho Cucamonga.
The purpose of the walk was to help raise awareness for Down syndrome. Many participants were families that came to encourage those who were affected by the disorder. The club members helped out with registering their buddies, handing out shirts, running the game booths and selling food to the buddies.
“It opens the members’ eyes to see [that] there’s a lot of love and support going on in the community,” secretary senior Michelle Park said. “It’s just really nice to see that these people that have Down syndrome really try hard, and it’s just a really big inspiration. It’s a really good atmosphere, everyone’s so supportive of each other, and there’s no competition. We just want the buddies to finish their goal.”
