GSA hosts lunchtime activity to celebrate National Coming Out Day
Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) hosted a lunchtime activity for students in celebration of National Coming Out Day Friday, Oct. 11 at the stage.
This event honored those in the LGBTQ+ community. With the help of Associated Student Body members, GSA led an activity in which students pied club adviser Jerry Knox, played musical chairs and tossed water balloons. GSA also provided free face painting, stickers and candy. In addition, they planted pride flags in front of the school in the shape of a heart.
“I think [the activity is] important because a lot of children, especially from gay communities, are alone, but today’s a day to celebrate them,” club member sophomore Alyssa Tran said. “It shows how we can all come together and have fun together. It promotes inclusivity with all people.”
