HOSA hosts resume building workshop
Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) hosted a workshop to inform students on how to create an efficient resume, on Thursday, Oct. 7.
Sports Medicine teachers, Elva Salcido and Faith Villanueva, showed students a presentation that covered the basics of creating a successful resume: proper grammar, strong adjectives and brevity. Students were then given a template to help them start writing their own resume and were encouraged to bring in their completed resumes in for critique at future workshops
“We decided that we should probably give [students] the tools to [create a resume] because as soon as they get out of high school they can use a resume, cover letter and email etiquette as soon as possible,” Villanueva said. “It would probably be the most efficient way to get [students] college and career ready. [The students] all felt that they learned something they didn’t know before. I have a good feeling that a lot of of them will try to write a resume and then come back for feedback.”
