IB seniors co-write with third graders

English teacher Pamela Booth’s IB senior class attended the Young Author’s Day assembly at Quail Summit Thursday, March 2.

Students co-authored 1-2 stories with third grade students and presented the finalized products to them. While the elementary students chose the topics, the seniors helped develop the storyline, add plot devices and draw illustrations. Students collaborated through Google Drive and added to their stories every Friday for a month.

“It was so exciting to meet my third grade buddy,” senior Kathryn Carlos said. “The moment we walked into their classroom we saw all their faces light up and we could see that they were just as excited as we were, if not more. I feel like this field trip showed the kids how hard work and creativity are skills that will yield good results in the end.”
