Passing of a faculty member
English teacher Pamela Booth passed away unexpectedly during the Veterans Day weekend. Principal Brandon Dade notified students and parents of Booth’s passing through a school-wide email sent the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 12.
Booth had been working in the Walnut Valley Unified School District for more than 30 years. After teaching at Evergreen Elementary School, she taught English at all grades and levels at Walnut High School for 16 years, during which she had worked as an International Baccalaureate instructor and advised multiple clubs. She had also served as a member of Walnut Valley Educators’ Association Executive Board and was part of the Walnut Valley Leadership Seminar program.
A district crisis response team will be present in Booth’s classes Tuesday, Nov. 13 and Wednesday, Nov. 14 to provide support and share information about the unexpected loss. Grade Level Coordinators, school psychologists and Peer Counselors will also be available to speak with all students, not only those in Booth’s classes. All Walnut teachers will speak with their classes Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the morning to ensure that all students know how and where to find resources.
