Preview: Science Olympiad to attend invitational
Science Olympiad will be competing in the 2018 Wilson High School Science Olympiad Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Glen A. Wilson High School.
Members prepared for this competition by taking tests developed by the Officer Board and by studying during their free time outside of the club meetings. Testing took place in October, on Thanksgiving and on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
“We study over the weekends and have meetings and talk about the events. Sometimes we study together,” sophomore Tyler Xu said. “We’ve been studying a lot, putting in the effort and [now] we’re ready to compete.”
Around 25 members will be competing in the invitational instead of the the usual 30. Members are participating in approximately 20 events.
“I honestly feel pretty good about tomorrow’s competition. We’ve been preparing for the whole year, so [I feel] pretty good. We’re [also] going to be paired up with partners, so I feel a little more confident about that [because] we can share the information,” executive board member junior Ethan Chang said. “I think that we’re going to do fine. Hopefully everybody gets some competition experience and possibly bring home some medals or awards, but I can’t say for sure.”
