Walnut discovers bomb threat

NEW UPDATE: 12:57 p.m.

Walnut High School is currently under lockdown after an anonymous bomb threat was found in the boys’ locker room restroom by several seniors. The note mentioned both Walnut High School and Mt. SAC, as well as the time, 2:45 p.m. Administration was immediately notified following the discovery of the note.

Parents were emailed about the situation at approximately 11:37 a.m. Students and staff have been advised to stay in lockdown until the campus is safe and secure. The sheriffs are currently working to clear the threat on campus with three search dogs.

Mt. SAC was evacuated at approximately 11:30 a.m., and classes there have been canceled.

Parents are waiting outside the front office for students to be released.

UPDATE: 12:49 p.m.

Administrators are preparing to release students. Buses will be here to be pick students up at 1:20 p.m.  The school will be closed at 1:20 p.m., and all after school activities will be canceled.

UPDATE: 12:57 p.m.

The campus has been cleared from any threat by the sheriffs. All after school activities and sports matches have been canceled except for the away softball game. Free lunches can be picked up at  the cafeteria. All students will be released to their parents at 1 p.m.
