Wishmakers invites guest speaker

Wishmakers invited guest speaker Elizabeth Espinoza, Kids for Wish Kids development coordinator, from the Make-A-Wish Foundation on Thursday, Sept. 29 for its first general meeting.

Espinoza spoke about the goal of Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is to grant wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses and Chris Greicius, the boy who inspired the organization. One of her personal motivations and experiences in Make-A-Wish Foundation includes organizing a girl’s vacation to Bali, Indonesia. She also showed a video about the organization’s 35th birthday to help members better understand its history.

“If it were just the club officers speaking, we wouldn’t understand what it was like to actually work there, with helping the kids and having direct contact,” Wishmakers secretary junior Josie Li said. “What she told us was inspiring and is going to motivate us to fundraise and help the kids. To know that there are kids around us really helps create this feeling of closeness and this feeling that we can accomplish something for our community.”
