Boys water polo beats Rowland

Varsity boys water polo defeated Rowland 19-3 in a non-league away game on Monday, Oct. 2.

Goalkeeper senior Hassan Eldemerdash led the Mustang’s defense by limiting the Raiders to three goals throughout the game. In the first half, Walnut scored 12 goals while Rowland scored three. Starting the second half with a nine-point lead, the team converted another seven points and conceded no more goals, ending the game 19-3.

“When we do so well on defense, [it] leads into our offense, [letting us] counter and basically get free goals. We [shut] them down on offense completely, we pressed the ball out and we put pressure on them,” driver junior Patrick Webb said. “I [feel] happy that what we’ve been doing is working because we really focus before games.”

The team, which currently holds an undefeated record of 7-0, will play its next home game against Los Altos on Thursday, Oct. 5.
