Girls Golf defeats Temple City

Varsity girls golf defeated Temple City 193-225 in a non-league game Thursday, Sept. 6.

The game was played on a nine-hole course at Meadow Mountains Golf Course. Sophomores Kaitlyn Loera, Kaylah Loera and Isabelle San Antonio and freshmen Megan Carrigan and Kylie Lau were selected to play in this match.

“[They’re] definitely one of the better teams we’ve played, but we’re a pretty solid team so I was confident,” Kaitlyn said. “My favorite shot had to be my 7-iron shot on the ninth hole which I [made].”

San Antonio and Kaitlyn both led the team by carding a three over par 39. Coach Cecil Woods followed each player around to provide constant hydration and shade under the hot weather.

“It’s fun to have [your team] around [when] you’re playing,” San Antonio said. “[We’ve become] a pretty tight friend group, and [we] encourage each other before games [by] saying good job and clapping.”

Girls golf’s next game will be against Whitney high school in a non-league match at Meadow Mountains Golf Course Monday, Sept. 9.
