Girls’ golf wins CIF team

Senior Patricia Wong and sophomore Anabelle Chang both shot 69 apiece to help lead girls’ golf to victory at the Eastern Division Southern Section Championships (CIF).

“I was really excited going into the tournament. We all really wanted to win because we practiced hard. We did the same routine we usually do and we all played really well,” Hou said.

The team won with a score of 356 with junior Alison Chang scoring 71, junior Megan Hou scoring 79, senior Serena Hou scoring 76 and freshman Katherine Muzi scoring 71.

“We had good mentality going into the round and we got a good glimpse of the course beforehand. Our coach the night before prepared us even better by giving us tips and we went over it. I think we were very well prepared for the event,” Wong said.

Continuous encouragement allowed the team to score well and to score the best overall at Jurupa Hills Country Club on Thursday, Oct. 30.

The team will be playing at the CIF WSCGA Team Qualifier Tournament on Nov. 6 and if it is places as one of the top three teams, the team will advance to the CIF WSCGA Tournament on Nov. 13.

“Our team is looking really good right now, especially since we have a really solid team and a group of six girls that is always well prepared and can play their best,” Wong said. “We always play our best so I think our team can do well and go to states.”
