Junior varsity water polo falls to El Dorado
Junior varsity boys water polo lost to El Dorado 8-14 in a preseason home game Wednesday, Sept. 21.
In the first quarter, Walnut scored two points and ended the quarter trailing 2-3. In the second quarter, goalkeeper sophomore Kyle Leimbach blocked four shot attempts from El Dorado; however, El Dorado scored four goals, extending their lead to 3-7.
“We could’ve played more together, but I can see why it’s a little harder [defending because] you have to go where [the opponent] is going,” Leimbach said.
Walnut responded to El Dorado in the third quarter, scoring four goals to El Dorado’s two goals, including a close-quarters right side shot from utility freshman Jasper Huang, ending the quarter 7-9. During the fourth quarter, Walnut scored one point, and El Dorado scored 5 points to win the game 8-14.
“I think, overall, we’ve improved, but this game has been a little setback for us because recently we’ve been winning a lot. It’s worse in retrospect to everything else we’ve done, but as a whole thing, we’re doing pretty good [as a team],” Leimbach said.
