Preview: Homecoming Game against Baldwin Park
Varsity football will play against Baldwin Park for the homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 25, at home.
Last year Baldwin Park lost 35-28, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter and one in the last quarter. Walnut scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, one touchdown in the third and another touchdown in the fourth to win the game.
“We’re trying to get ready for this homecoming game [by] watching film on almost all the offense and defense formations, and preparing mentally,” outside linebacker senior Christian Covarrubias said.
Baldwin Park lost its previous quarterback to Northview High School. The current quarterback has transferred from playing baseball to football.
“Missing a quarterback affects their team a lot. They have to [turn the] gameplan around and change the schemes and everything,” wide receiver senior Adrian Gomez said. “Truthfully it gives us a better shot.”
