Preview: Track competes in Meet of Champions

Track and Field’s Distance Team will be competing at the Distance Meet of Champions at Azusa Pacific University on Saturday, March 24.

This meet is exclusive to distance runners, offering only events such as the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter races. The participants have been doing endurance workouts such as a 60 minute run and 1000 meter repeats the week before. The workouts get the runners more used to the hard conditions that they are to perform in, and they increase their endurance so that each time gets easier.

“This meet is special to me because it’s a huge meet with a lot of fast people and it will show how fast you really are,” 1600 and 3200 meter runner freshman Anastasia Sloan. “Personally, I am pretty nervous, but I have been having personal records a lot in my races, so I am confident I will do well.”
