Preview: Varsity girls swim competes in CIF

Varsity girls swim will be competing against other Division Three Southern California teams in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern California Finals Thursday, May 2 at Riverside City College.

The team remains undefeated this season with a 10-0 overall record and a 5-0 league record alongside a Hacienda League championship. In preparation for CIF meets, swim is employing tapering workouts, in which intense activity is replaced in favor of warmups.

“For me, every person I talked to [was] enthusiastic to swim, and even [injured or sick] people were willing to participate and show spirit at our swim meets,” junior Cassadi Harada said. “There was a lot of camaraderie between the teams, even some [junior varsity] swimmers would cheer on varsity and vice versa.”

The Mustangs hope to compete in the CIF State meet on Saturday, May 11.
