Softball falls to Los Altos
Varsity softball lost to Los Altos 0-8 in a home game Tuesday, April 18.
“Going into the game, I knew it was going to be a tough one against Los Altos, knowing their pitcher and how committed she is. It was kind of intimidating,” first baseman and pitcher sophomore Cheyenne Tucker said.
Los Altos dominated the bases and pitching throughout the seven innings of the game, having 27 at bats compared to Walnut’s 15.
“[During games] we focus on trying to stay in the game mentally and keep our heads in as much as possible, and we also focus on staying positive towards one another,” first baseman sophomore Alyssa Joyner said. “We’ve definitely seen more improvement with our plays on the field after practicing and we’ve been communicating more, so that improved our gameplay.”
Varsity practiced hitting drills on Wednesday to make up for its lack of batting during the game. The team aims to be more aggressive by taking and securing more bases.
“We definitely could’ve been more aggressive at the bases, and I think with the practice it really helped our batting,” Joyner said. “I think that if we focus more on the scenario plays that we missed during that game, I believe that we can change the game for the better.”
