Softball loses to Wilson

Varsity softball lost to Wilson High School in a preseason game at home 2-4 Thursday, March 16th.

In the first inning, the Wildcats gained a lead after the Mustangs committed fielding errors. Wilson’s pitching took advantage of the early lead as they put Walnut down in order in the first inning. The Mustangs remained scoreless until late in the bottom of the third when they scored two runs. From the fourth inning forward, the Wildcats were able to shut down the Mustang line up and hold on to beat Walnut 2-4.

“We didn’t do very well offensively. We should [have] done better, but we’ve been in a bit of a slump for hitting which has been difficult for us all,”  second baseman senior Brianna Roach said. “Our past seasons have not been great as you can tell, but we have a lot of talent. All that matters is how we work well together and if we do that I truly believe we will do good in league.”
