Sports season restart
According to its official memo, California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) has decided to condense the fall, winter and spring seasons into two seasons: fall and spring, officially beginning in December and February, respectively.
Fall sports include cross-country, field hockey, football, gymnastics, cheer, volleyball and water polo. Spring sports include badminton, baseball, basketball, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field and wrestling.
Teams are expected to hold official practices two to three weeks before the start of their respective seasons. Each season will be 5 percent to 12 percent shorter, but the amount of competitions within them will remain the same.
“It will be very tough to fit all of [the contests] in this condensed schedule due to facilities, overlapping of coaches, transportation, budget and many other circumstances,” athletic director Jerry Person said. “We are scheduling as many contests as we can fit into the equation on our campus.”
