Track and field competes at League Finals

Varsity track and field competed at the Hacienda League Finals Thursday, May 4, at home.

In the boys relay races, junior Jaylan Prendergast, junior Kenan Van Setten and sophomores Ryan Hines and Jared Arellano took first place in the 4 by 400 meter relay at 3:29:83. Senior James Cheng, senior Justin Chau, Hines and Arellano took first place in the 4 by 100 meter relay at 43:86. In the girls relay races, freshman Nicole Stout, sophomores Emma Arriaga and Samantha Munguia and senior Lizette Manese and took first place in the 4 by 400 at 4:11:32.

“Since we were down by so much, I was kind of scared because I didn’t know if I could catch up to them or not, so I just kept pushing myself to at least try and close the gap. I didn’t expect to go [to CIF] for this relay team, but now I feel like we have a lot more potential than I thought and I’m really excited for next year,” Hines said.

The qualifying individuals will be attending CIF Preliminaries Saturday, May 13 at Trabucco.
