Track and field defeats Chino

Varsity track and field beat Chino in its first home league meet Thursday, March 23.

In the boys distance races, junior Kenan Van Setten took first place in the 800 meter run at 2:09, sophomore Curtis Trieu took first place in the 1600 meter run at 4:46 and Trieu took second place in the 3200 meter run at 10:44. In the girls distance races, sophomore Emma Arriaga took first place in the 800 meter run at 2:31, freshman Amanda Ghibaudo took first place in the 1600 meter run at 5:29 and sophomore Chloe Arriaga took first in the 3200 meter run at 11:30.

“Honestly, [my race] was a jogging pace. It wasn’t that exciting since they didn’t have much of a frosh soph team,” distance runner sophomore Daniel Gonzalez said. “We were just racing against each other. It just felt like a time trial that went really smooth.”

The Mustangs will have their next meet at Los Altos Thursday, March 30.
