Varsity Swim defeats Chino Hills
Swim defeated Chino Hills with an overall score of 482-181 Monday, April 24 at an away meet. Varsity boys swim won 114-56, and varsity girls swim won 132-38. Open level girls won and open level boys won by 18 points.
For varsity boys, senior Matthew Huang placed first in 200 meter freestyle with 1:48. Freshman Matthew Neoh won first in the 100 meter butterfly with 0:54. Huang, Neoh, sophomore Brian Honng and junior Ryan Chou secured first in the 200 medley relay. For varsity girls, junior Cara Le won first in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 0:58.1. In the 100 meter freestyle, freshman Lexi Grant won first place with a time of 0:57.6. In the 100 meter backstroke, senior Erin De Anda placed first with a time of 1:04.3.
“Even though we did pretty well as a whole, we did lose a race in the 50 freestyle, and it just showed how we can’t really take any team lightly,” Chou said. “Having been league champs for many years, we need to maintain a competitive attitude against every team we go against. This meet really taught me how to act mature when competing and never underestimate the competition.”
