Varsity swim defeats Los Altos
Swim defeated Los Altos 526-114 Wednesday, March 29 at an away meet. Varsity boys swim won 137-26, and varsity girls swim won 135-35.
For varsity girls, freshman Lexi Grant secured a first place win in the 200 meter individual medley. In the 500 meter freestyle, junior Cara Le won first with a time of 5:35. In the 100 meter breaststroke, sophomore Katelyn Young placed first with a time of 1:19. For varsity boys, freshman Matthew Neoh won first in both the 200 meter individual medley and the 500 meter freestyle. Sophomore Brian Honng placed first in the 100 meter butterfly with 58.4, and senior Matthew Huang won first in both the 50 meter freestyle with 23.10 and the 100 meter backstroke with 58.6.
“On the 100 free, before the race, I was nervous because I wanted to break a minute,” freshman Cassidi Harada said. “While I was swimming the 100 free, my main goal to break the minute was to keep up with Emily Honng. I didn’t break the minute, but I did better than expected with an exact 1:00. I am happy I didn’t go slower.“
