Preview: Volleyball prepares for game against Diamond Ranch

Varsity girls’ volleyball (4-3) will play a league game against Diamond Ranch (7-0) for the second time this season Thursday, Oct. 29 at home.

After losing three sets (10-25, 21-25, 15-25) in their previous match against the Panthers, the Mustangs look to even out the series with Diamond Ranch. The team currently utilizes its time to go over tactics and works on positioning themselves to where they expect the Panthers to hit. They are also training to block and cover certain short tips and wide hits, as instructed by coach Darren Hoff.
“Coming in the first set [of the previous game against Diamond Ranch], our energy levels were down, we were unprepared and we didn’t come in strong at all. They had a big cheering crowd and we let it get to our heads. I don’t think we prepared enough for that game,” right side hitter senior Lauren Quinonez said. “But this time, we’re prepared to do anything to win, and we’ve been practicing according to where they hit us hard last time. We have to be intense coming out on the court and we have to play aggressive, always. They have a very good team, but they’re beatable.”
