Juniors Justin Abellera and Ryan Wang and sophomore Dylan Toh talk to a representative from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. “Grant cuts will likely impact my tuition. If the university can’t afford to run their school because of funding cuts, they may pass it over to me to pay. While Worcester looked pretty convincing as a polytechnic university, the $80,000 price tag to attend makes me more hesitant to go there,” Abellera said.

Trump freezes billions in educational funding
Colleges expect change as they adjust to sudden cancellation of funding
Hazel Li, News editor • September 15, 2025

The Trump Administration has been withholding billions of dollars in federal education grants. Many public and private colleges have been affected by this recent suspension of aid, such as the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Harvard and Brown.  The suspension of millions of dollars towards research and grants has set back the progression of scientific research and led to budget cuts. According to the student newspaper at UCLA, the Daily Bruin, the freezing of funding on their campus has caused delays in research, adjustments to budget and a reduction in the workforce. In other...

After recently being bitten by her lizard Myungi, sophomore Lauren Kan rejoices when she opens Myungi’s cage to an obedient attitude. To her, the most rewarding thing of owning reptiles is earning their trust. Kan is no stranger to animals, currently owning 23 pets—17 of her own reptiles, three rescued reptiles and three dogs. Through her nonprofit organization, Loving Herps SoCal Rescue, she gives surrendered reptiles—reptiles that have been given up by their owner — a safe place to thrive before a new owner is found. “I have always had a really big passion for animals, so I’m happy...

Leon Lee, Scene editor • September 15, 2025

Everytime I opened up my Instagram reels, my mouth began to water as I scrolled past the viral Korean corn dog mukbangs.  I got two of the most popular items from Mochinut at 3088 W Temple Ave in Pomona: the Hot Cheetos ($6.00) and potato ($6.00) Korean corn dogs. The Hot Cheetos corn dog had a crunchy outside that paired well with the gooey cheese. The spicy coating packed flavor with each bite, making the Hot Cheetos corn dog my favorite of the two. The potato corn dog was covered in crispy potato cubes, giving it a unique texture, but it lacked flavor compared to the Hot Cheetos corn...
