Varsity badminton defeated Chino Hills High School 20-1 at a home game on March 20.
The Mustangs won 20-1 against the Huskies, with each of the eight starters winning their matches until doubles senior Alex Liu and doubles freshman Miro Alcantara lost a close match — 18-21 in their first set and 22-24 in their second set.
One match where the Mustangs dominated was senior Citrine Deng and freshman Angela Wang who won with a score of 21-1 for both their first and second sets. Together with Deng, Wang made aggressive plays at the front of the net while Deng provided support at the back, ready to deflect any incoming smashes.
“The matches were fun, but [our] opponents were [not the best], so the rallies were pretty short,” Wang said. “I didn’t feel any pressure coming into the match because we had [previously] played against [Chino Hills] and won.”
