Does anybody else feel drastically overworked lately? I know I do. The academic burnout that has taken over my life is irreversible. It’s currently 3:00 in the morning and I’m running on three cans of Sparkling Peach Vibe Celsius, and I still have five more assignments to complete after this article gets done. It’s safe to say I’m not sleeping tonight. But since I pride myself upon my responsible and hardworking nature, I suppose I will stay up and sacrifice my precious, gradually depleting health to finish my work.
You know, I really don’t understand why I always get the short end of the stick. A lot of my classmates are in bed by 10:00 PM, and yet here I am, slaving away in the dead of night. I think schools should really be doing much more to accommodate students’ personal needs. I don’t have enough time on my hands to do all of this tedious calculus and English work, you feel me? Here, let me give you a rundown of what my insanely busy schedule looked like today.
When I got home, the first thing I did was head to the kitchen to get me a snack to fuel up, and I noticed my mom was watching some really juicy dating reality show on TV. I checked the time on my phone. It was only 4:00 PM. I still had the whole day to do my homework, so I watched the show with her for around an hour before I got bored.
It was 5:00 PM now, but I hadn’t touched my phone for an hour and it would be rude not to check if my friends had sent me any messages. After responding to all of those, I realized I only had a few assignments today anyway, so I headed to my room and, whoops, accidentally fell into my bed. Hey, an overworked academic weapon like me deserves some rest. I scrolled on TikTok for around an hour, but you can’t blame me because I had no time to myself during class! I was too busy during the school day since Brawl Stars ate up my tutorial.
Wait, why did nobody remind me that I had homework? It was already 8:00 PM and I still needed to eat dinner. I realized that on top of the six assignments that were due tomorrow, I also had three missing assignments that I needed to make up. This workload is utterly impossible.
So that’s pretty much how I ended up here. I still have 10 questions left of this chemistry worksheet to plug into ChatGPT (which is incredibly inefficient because it keeps getting the questions wrong), 20 pages of this book left to read (I’ll probably just read the SparkNotes) and—wait, I just got a TikTok notification…
Eh, I’ll just do the rest of this tomorrow.
