The Class of 2023 College Information Night took place Thursday Sept. 1 from 5-6 pm in the performing arts center.

A few hundred seniors and their parents showed up to the event hosted by Class of 2023 Grade Level Coordinators (GLCs) Jennifer Tucker and Jeff Jacks. The GLCs answered questions pertaining to scholarships, letters of recommendation, and important dates in the college application process. This was the first time the event was in-person since 2019.

“It benefited students greatly because as seniors, the students have lots of questions and they’re scared and concerned and the parents are scared and concerned and wondering when things start and wondering when things start and what websites to go to and how they can find money to go to college. It’s a great start to giving them a heads up on what to look out for and what to start doing,” Tucker said.

There are more college information events coming up later this year. Financial aid night is on Tuesday Sept. 27 and the GLCs will also be going to senior English classes on Oct. 12 to answer more questions about the college application process.

“I just enjoy sharing my experiences with the parents because I’ve been a parent myself of two college students. I’ve learned a lot through the process and then also being a counselor I’ve learned a lot through the process,” Tucker said.
