Placing second overall in their league and winning 19 out of 30 games throughout the season, varsity boys water polo qualified for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) games. Water polo school teams qualify for CIF if they place at least fourth in their league or have won over 50% of their total seasonal games combined.
The Mustangs lost their first round of CIF 11-12 on Tuesday, Oct. 29 to the Los Osos High School Grizzlies at Los Osos High School. As a result, they are officially out of CIF for the 2024 fall season.
“I think the boys did great. The game was incredibly close with no room for error,” captain senior Jakob Villasenor said. “It came down to the wire, but their chemistry was better.” Ω
