A well-known name in the Walnut and Rowland Heights area, Boiling Point has been a staple for anyone who craves a good Taiwanese-style hot pot meal. Having relocated from its original location in Diamond Plaza, the restaurant is now on 19811 Colima Road, with a much more spacious venue. Shortly after coming in, we were quickly seated at our tables. The service was friendly, making the experience enjoyable.
I ordered my usual Beef Hot Soup ($16.42), which included a mild spicy broth, along with napa cabbage, tofu, fishcake, sliced beef and more. My meal came piping hot as a gel fuel heated the pot. My first bite consisted of a mix of broth and meat along with a scoop of rice. Something about warm soup is just so satisfying, and after a long day of school, it was a much-needed treat. The only problem was that I should have ordered something higher on the spice level, but that can be fixed the next time I visit. As an appetizer, I also ordered a spicy fermented tofu, which I ate in combination with napa cabbage and beef. I must say that the meat was a bit bland; however, Boiling Point offers a variety of its in-house sauces to go with the meat. I especially love the spicy garlic bean paste, with its strong umami flavor that paired well with everything in my pot.
As a regular at Boiling Point, I always enjoy their specialty soups. I’m always interested to try out their many other options, including the Milk Cream Curry ($16.42) and House Special ($16.23). Overall, Boiling Point is a great comfort food spot for anyone craving something hot and filling. I’d rate it a 4/5. Ω
